Our Story

Nathan and I met a little over six years ago while stationed at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.  He was the entertainer of the group; extremely witty and sarcastic.  There was hardly a dull moment when he was around.  He was also very persistent and seemed clueless of the word "no."  =)  I tell him it was this charm of his that won me over.

We dated only a short time before getting married in Fairbanks, Alaska.  He officially proposed under the gazebo which we were married a short five days later on September 7, 2005.  It was very simple ceremony.  We had only one couple attend as our witnesses.  A couple that we no longer speak to, but will forever be reminded of when we look at our marriage certificate!  Regardless of this fact or that fact that we were married outside on a cold and rainy day, it was perfect!

A short three and a half months later, and just one week before Nathan was deployed to Kuwait, we found out we were pregnant with Daniel.  And they just kept coming!!  :^)   It wasn't fun spending our newlywed days thousands of miles away from each other, but it definitely beat the following rotation he could havebeen on, in which case he would have missed many of Daniel's first milestones.

We were shocked (this is an understatement) to learn that we were pregnant again when Daniel was only five months old!  With Daniel being such a good baby, we thought, "This is easy!  We can do this again."  No amount of parenting classes or advice could have prepared us for our life with Denton!!  They were like night and day.

I had always wanted a little girl, but after learning we were gonna have two babies only 13 months apart, I was hoping for another boy.  Daniel needed a brother close in age to grow up with.  I played around with the idea of wanting a third baby, but finally agreed with Nathan that two were PLENTY!  Someone else decided otherwise though.  That pregnancy test came back positive just two short weeks after learning Nathan's vasectomy wasn't successful.  Nathan was determined to stop at three and underwent a second vasectomy!

If we were going to have another baby, Nathan wanted another boy.  A girl would have been nice, but I was so in love with being a mommy to our two little boys that the gender made absolutely no difference to me.  I could see us raising a house full of boys!  Now, Nathan may have said he didn't want a girl, but he couldn't be wrapped any tighter around Addi's little finger.  She is definitely a daddy's little girl and there is no hiding the way he adores her.  He calls her his 'Pretty Girl'.  <3  I will be Addi's only line of defense when she becomes a teenager against her daddy's protectiveness!  Only eight months old and he already fusses over some of the things she wears, claiming they show too much skin.  =)

I was never into all the girly clothes or the flowers headbands, but Addison has changed this!  After having two boys, I am having so much fun dressing her up in all the pretty dresses, and for the most part, dressing her around the flower headbands.

Before moving to West Virginia in June of 2010, we had the opportunity to live in Alaska for five years while Nathan was stationed at Eielson AFB.  It's nice living near family now that we have a family of our own, but Alaska was an awesome experience we will never forget!  Alaska is a beautiful place where we were able to see and experience things we otherwise wouldn't have.
